BOTTLE DESIGN
From the beginning, I knew I wanted the paired bottle to match the app. I didn’t want to just buy a bottle online and call it a day. Having an interest in Industrial Design, I took on the task of designing the bottle myself. (Have I had previous experience designing and building products? Absolutely not.)
STARTING THE PROTOTYPE
After rendering the basic idea of the bottle design, it was time to think about building the prototype. I wanted to consider sustainability. So, I felt it was best to make the clear body out of glass.
In order to bring this idea to life I searched for glass bottles in the size I envisioned and found one to work off of. I measured the bottle and translated it into Blender. In Blender, I was able to build a cap and base design that I could fit onto the glass body.

BUILDING THE PARTS
From this process I learned about 3D printing. I used my university’s maker space to run a few rounds of test prints. After testing each print, I had to go back in, make adjustments, and print again (yes, it was quite pricey). In the end I modified the original design to include a base at the neck of the bottle (as well as the cap and base of the bottle) and a transluscent sleeve.
